and it's impact on my character: Citrus Squeeze

So the character story goes like this:

She is an earth pony that wanted nothing more than to become a Princess when she was younger. She worked hard to be nice and do the right thing no matter what, always took responsibility even when something wasn't her fault and tried to cheer people up when they seems a little down. She held the belief that if she worked hard that she could achieve anything, just like her father told her. One day she went to class on show-and-tell day and brought her makeshift wings and horn that she made herself, telling everyone in her class that she was going to be a Princess when she grew up. The class bully, Snapdragon, started laughing and pointed out that a pony could never become a Princess, a privilege only given to Alicorns, and soon the whole class was laughing at her. Classmates she thought were her friends openly mocked her from that day forward, led by Snapdragon.

She became heartbroken and gave up her dream and over the years she grew into a bitter, mistrusting, and generally anti-social mare; tending to her small citrus fruit orchard and venturing out on occasion to sell her wares. She moved away from the city in hopes of getting away from the crowds and familiar faces that teased her when she was younger and after much thought decided that the most logical place to move was farming community in Ponyville. There she would be close to her cousins and if she was ever in a pinch she could ask them for help, because "family comes first" in the Apple family. She was expecting to be welcomed into the town by AJ and her family, but was instead greeted by Twilight Sparkle who volunteered to escort Citrus around town while AJ was busy trying to make the last of their Apple Bucking rounds. Citrus, politely and a bit anxiously, declined her tour offer and instead just asked to be pointed in the direction of her new house. Of course Twilight pressed that it was of no inconvenience to her to show Citrus around and subjected Citrus to the tour anyways. Queue mane six introduction hi-jinx and the sort all day, finished by AJ showing up and saving her skin. AJ apologized to Citrus about all the hub-bub that was made, knowing that she liked her piece and quiet, and reminding Twilight that she acted the same way when she first got to town.

Aaaaaanyways, fast forward through a bunch of episodic misadventures to Twilight coronation. Twilight was made a Princess, an ALICORN Princess. Of course Citrus was furious, her whole life she was made fun of for wanting to become a Princess and it WAS possible. Years of ridicule on a baseless fact. Twillight Sparkle, a being that was already blessed with the ability to use magic, powerful magic none the less, was made into an Alicorn. It wasn't fair, why should should a unicorn be turned into something more powerful simply because she made friends? If it wasn't for the fact that Twilight was already able to use magic, she never would have been made a Princess. You didn't see any of her other friends made into Alicorns and they went through and proved themselves just as much as Twilight. Friendship might be magic, but magic has nothing to do with friendship. And with that, Citrus snapped.
